I’m a bit Bah Humbug today

Not that I didn’t have a great time with shopping for the past two days.

I had a totally great time and ton of laughs, plus a ton of walking. All of which are very good for my state of mind.

IMG 1070However, I’m dealing with car issues. My baby is at the dealership needing about $1500 in repair (Thank you California Freeways and Semi Trucks who insist on running on retreads that leave debris allover the roads) It really is time for a superfund that truck drivers MUST pay into so that the damage they cause can be paid for.

That Superfund could  be used as incentive for all the truck drivers to operate their multi-ton instruments of destruction more safely.

That being said, the dealership has all the proper parts in stock and if I was paying for the repair, instead of the insurance company, I’d have my car back by late this afternoon.

Since the insurance company is paying for it, they’re insisting that an adjuster inspect the car adding 3 to 5 days to the whole process.

Including rental car fees and general inconvenience to all concerned. For that piddly sum, why bother? The car is at an authorized repair facility, specific to the vehicle. The Insurance company themselves prefers OEM parts. So it should be a no brainer. Alas… It’s not!

But that’s the way they want to waste their money, fine with me! Unfortunately they’re wasting ALL our money in the process.

Since I was dealing with insurance companies I figured, “I’ll deal with health care Insurance.”

What could possibly go wrong?

LOL!

I was quoted $795.00 per month for high deductible medical Insurance with no dental or vision. Say what?

That’s more than my car payment and as much as my mortgage payment.

ARE YOU SHITTING ME?

One month of health insurance would cost me more than 1 year of the cost of my single medication for which I’m paying cash, out of pocket right now.

Uhhh NO! This speaks to a system that is so horribly broken I can’t even begin to describe it. While the Doctors and Hospitals are partially to blame. I contend that ultimately the fault for outrageous health care costs, lies squarely with the Insurance companies themselves.

These are the same organizations that came into existence to help you plan for the worst. They were supposed to be, “you pay a little monthly so that you don’t have to cough up a huge chunk of cash IF something bad happens,”

Clearly these companies are not what they once were and I contend that these companies should be thoroughly investigated and perhaps stripped of their business licenses. I’m stopping short of having their entire executive staffs whipped naked through the streets of every city in America.

That being said, they should be forced to return their huge profits to the individuals they STOLE from or their heirs.

I have wondered and continue to wonder what would happen if every single person in America simply refused to pay these excessively high, no, usury rates. This is no longer providing a service, this is flat out extortion.

It’s time for our wonderful Congress to apply racketeering laws to the Insurance industry. Oh wait… our wonderful Congress is in bed with the insurance industry. Could we use the racketeering laws to clean out the corruption in congress?

Hum… there’s a thought!

You want to curb homelessness? Stop making people decide between health insurance and paying their mortgage!

That path to health insurance is a dead issue!

I do wonder if I should get into politics. I wouldn’t run on a Make America Great Platform… I’d go for a “Fix America for All” platform.

My FAFA plan would be to take each fucked up broken aspect of our country and start fixing it. Start with Health insurance… Everybody who can pay for policies does and they pay an affordable rate, Say never more than 250 per moth per person. Streamline the Medical Professionals interaction with insurance companies making it less burdensome therefor reducing the cost overhead on the medical professionals. That should drive down costs because then it would be cheaper for the Medical folks to actually do their jobs, you know, “Treating Patients!”

FAFA could then take a look at the pharmaceutical industry and start asking why the medications cost so much in America, (Even though many of the drugs are manufactured overseas) Then we bring these drug costs into line with their actual value how much do they cost to make? How much did they cost to research? From there the costs would be normalized and the companies would still make decent profits.

Has it ever occurred to you, if we in America pay $25.00 a pill and that same pill is $5.00 in any other country, that Americans are in effect paying for all the research and development costs but 3rd world countries are reaping the benefits? In effect, American citizens are footing the bill not only for themselves and their families, but we’re also paying for the rest of the world?

Not only do our tax dollars get sent to prop up some shit hole country but with the additional costs we bear we’re subsidizing their socialized medicine too.

Moving on…

Now that I think about it.

The Mafia got into trouble for doing the same thing the insurance companies do.

One difference is that the Mafia only kills those what need killin.

Insurance companies kill indiscriminately and capriciously.

There’s little difference in my mind between a couple of Mafia guys telling you, “Pay us and your granny’s house ain’t gonna burn down,” or an insurance company telling you, “make your payment and we’ll keep your granny’s oxygen tanks coming.”

In fact, the mafia guys are probably nicer to deal with because unlike an insurance company, they have faces.

Okay, now I’m moving on!

Time to take out my frustrations on the snow that’s piling up in the driveway.

Have a nice Thanksgiving Eve everyone.

——————————-

I noticed a glaring error in my post. I meant to say never more than 250 per person. I I’ve amended the text.

It’s that time of the month

No! It’s not what you’re thinking. Pigs!

It’s the time of the month when I cycle all the batteries in my devices.

IMG 1065I run the phone, pad, computer, watch, and finally the Goal Zero down to nothing then recharge ‘em.

Right now my Watch, Computer, Pad and headphones are recharging from the Goal Zero so I’m almost at the end of the cycle.

It’s funny though because one of the things I worry about while I’m doing this… What happens if the house power goes out?

Silly, I know. It’s happened before, once. In that case I broke out all the big solar panels and was able to keep things running.

It’s funny when I think about it, the time of year most likely to lose power here, is Winter. Rarely is the power outage attributed snow or a severe storm. Almost always it’s because a skier’s snowboard was better prepared than the vehicle that was taking them to the slopes.

They lose control on the icy road, take out a power pole and plunge the whole town into darkness. The last time it happened, we were without power for 36 hours. The power company simply couldn’t get the appropriate equipment up the hill to make the repairs.

IMG 1064That alone should tell you the obvious. The skier from “Down Below” shouldn’t have been on the road in the first place because the storm was such a big deal the roads were being closed all the way down to the freeway.

To top it off, the skier tried to sue the town for poorly maintained roads. He was laughed right out of the courtroom for two reasons. 1) He had bald tires, no chains  and 2) His friends testified that he’d been in a hurry to get to the slopes before the road closed.

Judge says… “You’re out of here! Please take your lovely parting gift from the clerk and I don’t want to see you, or your attorney in my court again.“

It is nice to have CHP & Sheriff’s officers as neighbors. You get all the best gossip.

Nonetheless I guess it’s about being vulnerable. During this time If the power goes out I might find myself with dead equipment, at least until I’m able to get enough sun on the panels to power back up.

Call it routine maintenance. As with any routine maintenance, you run the risk of causing bigger troubles. It’s a sunny day, so going solar wouldn’t be that big a deal. The plus side is that it’s about 35F outside so I wouldn’t have to worry about the battery packs overheating during charging.

I may break out the panels just to have the whole cycle “Green” it would give me something to do.

Oh yeah, gotta check the charge on the HAM radio too.

No, I’m not a “Prepper” but I do like being somewhat prepared.

Okay, off to handle some other things around the house. I’ll also continue the job search.

I’ve gotten into the habit of blogging when I need a break from the frustration.

Have a great weekend

An annual tradition is reborn!

Each year before I worked for the company In San Diego, where it was impossible to sBrisbane.jpgchedule a day off… I’d go Christmas shopping with two of my oldest and dearest friends. (Yes, I know we’re supposed to call it holiday shopping now… It’s my Blog get over it!)

Some years it was just impossible to go with both of them, other years I was able to have time to relax and enjoy a couple guys day shopping events.

I’ll be honest, there were gifts purchased for others… BUT often we purchased gifts for ourselves. So what? One sure way to avoid the returns line is to buy what you want as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. It’s not selfish…

It’s maximizing time and efficiency!

Okay, maybe that’s just a little sophistry. Moving on!

This year, I’m excited to be going shopping with both of my friends, on two consecutive days to two different locations. Neat! Lunch, Drinks, shopping, laughs, and good company.

Although come to think of it, the last time I went shopping with one of these individuals I ended up with an iPhone X. That was a fun albeit expensive shopping expedition. But it was after Christmas and Santa hadn’t gotten me a new phone so, “Oh Well”.  I will have to make sure that I have some kind of amulet to ward off the Apple Store Spell this time. (Perhaps an old Android Phone?)

To that individual… I know you’re a traditionalist and you like classic and beautiful watches. However, the Apple watch series 5 is pretty sweet! Need I point out that we’re getting older and that fall detection and the ability of the watch to call for help is something your classic watch cannot do?

Come on man, we’re the last of the boomers! It is our solemn duty to inflict ourselves on the young for as long as possible. A watch that summoned help in a world where most people would just instagram your fall might make sense.

I’m gonna get a punch over that one, It’ll be worth it!

Come to think of it, both of you could use a watch! Come on guys, anytime now we’re going to be comparing medications, worried about breaking our hips, and lamenting our mis-spent youth.

On the positive side we might live long enough to be able to take a Christmas Trip to China or Singapore where we can purchase brand new cloned bodies then we can really enjoy retirement! Suck on that millennials!

Going shopping with these guys essentially kicks off my Christmas season and I’ve missed being able to do things like this over the past few years.

This year we’re avoiding the Black Friday insanity. There will still be insanity for sure, that’s just typical Southern California on any day.

Obviously, I’m excited about it.

I feel like a kid again. Of course, the day after back to back shopping I’m probably going to be tired and I don’t know if I’ll be saying “Bah Humbug” or not.

Then on to Thanksgiving I think I’m cooking here this year. NICE!

I’ll take a breather after Thanksgiving for a day or two, then it’s about locating the Christmas decorations and prepping to set up a tree.

Maybe sometime in the midst of all this, I’ll get an early Christmas present consisting of a Job.

Dear Santa, all I want this year is a decent job. Thank you!!!

I hope that all of you are looking forward to having time with people that you love and who love you.

You know, this is out of hand…

Chick-Fil-A.jpgLooks like Chick-Fil-A is withdrawing it’s donations to charity organizations which are associated with religious organizations or organizations which are anti-LGBT.

They’re doing this apparently in response to the protests from the LGBT community.

Sigh!

Saw this on Twitter:

Congratulations to the LGBT community for becoming EXACTLY what we’ve fought against, for decades.

We wanted nothing more than equality and freedom to live without condemnation, now LGBT has taken up the whip and become the new task master. Good Job!

There are a lot more comments on Twitter about it. Many of these are from the LGBT community stating, “it’s not enough”

Images
Really? Not Enough? What exactly would be enough?

Would you be satisfied with the nationally televised public castration of the executives of the company, followed by drawing and quartering and the murder of their families? Would that be enough?

For fuck sake! You dumb motherfuckers! You won! Accept the win graciously, you don’t have to be dicks.

Oh wait, you do don’t you?

God forbid, you’d be able to have the good grace to move on. There’s no way in hell that you could possibly allow someone to have beliefs or make choices different from yours.

Of course, the real question I have is… Are these your beliefs or are you parroting what you’ve been told by others?

Did any of you stop for a second to think that regardless of Chick-Fil-A’s donations to Christian charities; That money was helping people who needed help?

Doesn’t the availability of help mitigate from whom that help is being provided? I suppose that the availability of help is only “good” when the help in question is provided to organizations “Approved” by the  “Leaders” of the LGBT community.

Do you ever wonder about, or ask about the rest of the community?

This lack of awareness may be why so many “Average” LGBT people are not participating in the community. You’ve become like a political party that no longer represents its constituents.

Keep your heads up your asses. I’d say that the rest of us are about done with you.

In time I suspect the world will look on you with a mixture of revulsion and pity, then you’ll be forgotten. Your curse will be obscurity.

Who knows? I might live just long enough to see it happen.

Ugh! Monday!

Not that I have anything much to do.

Job Search of course, but that’s feeling more and more like beating a dead horse.

FYI. Typically, beating a dead horse isn’t going to make the horse move any faster. In other words… It’s a pointless exercise. I know there are a lot of people out there that have no idea what a horse is. Perhaps the phrase should be updated to beating a dead electric only Prius?

Anyhoo.

Got the plumber here, taking care of some long overdue plumbing issues.

As an aside, I don’t do plumbing! It’s not that I can’t, it’s that no matter what I buy at the hardware store, it’s always the wrong whatsit. I’ll leave it to the professionals. Now I know why plumbers always have big assed trucks, it’s to hold all the wrong whatsits until they’re someplace where the part actually fits.

Thus far today, I’ve paid bills, updated & balanced the checkbook, taken out the trash, vacuumed, showered, shaved, started an automated process on the computer to back up files to other storage, and currently I’m looking for a new job. (Albeit writing this blog isn’t looking for a new job, I’m using this as a break from depressingly unfruitful job search.)

I’ve also scanned the news. Another depressing endeavor, the headlines tell the tale, and it’s not a happy one. I’ve purposely avoided the impeachment stories. However, every once in a while I do get sucked in.

One of the things that has made me sort of say huh? Is that some of the testimony appears to lead back to the Bidens and potentially the Obama administration. If that is the case and the Biden family is drawn into the investigation, doesn’t that mean that Joe Biden is not a viable Presidential candidate?

PE4EM.jpgAfter all, If Trump was involved with the Russians and he’s bad. Then by extension if Biden was involved with the Russians he must also be bad.

Which begs in my mind another question. If the Democrats are so enraged that they’re willing to burn down their own party to get at Trump, do I really want them to have control of the nuclear football?

Where would they stop to end Russian collusion? How far exactly would they go?

Trump only has one more year in office. It’s taken Democrats three years to even get to an impeachment hearing at this point… Let the American People decide in November 2020.

This kind of wasted time and taxpayer money is exactly what the American people don’t need.

The Democrats would be far better served by providing a reasonable candidate instead of what we’ve seen thus far. Provide someone who is so far and away better than Trump, that the American People all say, “YES! That’s the person for the job.”

That’s what happened in 2008. Hell, I voted for Obama because I believed in his message.

In 2016 I didn’t vote for either candidate. Hillary had too many scandals and / or bodies around her. Trump pretty much had the same problem.

Bernie was right out because living in California, I know all too well what his kind of government would be like. Since I want out of California precisely because of that kind of governance I certainly wasn’t about to vote for it nationwide.

It’s a lot harder to leave an entire country behind.

IPARedTape sitepostLARGE v1 061516 APAs an example, my CAR registration for next year is $543. I’d have no problem paying that amount if California had the finest roads in the country. But California’s roads suck donkey balls! Potholes, trash, rough broken concrete, flooding in the rain, and top that off with some of the highest gas taxes, and the inability to import gasoline from refineries other than those that make the “California Blend” and you can see why I might think that amount is excessive.

IMG 9809Oh and by the way, there’s a move afoot to divert the registration fees to mass transit and other “Public works” projects neglecting again the decaying roads, which most of the population is reliant upon to get to and from work, so they can pay the taxes that aren’t being used for their intended purposes.

Don’t even talk about the water taxes that aren’t being used to build or maintain reservoirs for use in time of drought. The politicians think it’s better to ration water year round, instead of plan ahead for lean years.

We already have a Federal government that thinks the citizens are a piggy bank, I couldn’t vote for Bernie because I believed his ideas would have made us much closer to indentured servants who were still paying out of pocket for everything.

We just would have been paying more in taxes to fund a government bureaucracy that was more wildly out of control.

69-vs.jpgWhich brings us to the 2020 democratic candidates, and the party itself.

Given the circus in Washington pissing away millions of dollars, leveling forests for documents no-one is going to read, and generally distracting from the business of running the country. Is there any democratic candidate that’s worthy of my vote?

Time for more coffee. Time to turn back to job searching.

Mondays! Ugh!
