Sorry, Don’t mean to keep bashing Bass, but does she hear herself?

Uhhh. Lady, their mission has been pretty straight forward.

Let me lay it out for you:

Find Illegal Aliens
Deport Same

Really easy, no mystery, it’s not complicated. If the federal agents were at MacArthur Park they were either staging for their next raid, or they already knew the park was loaded with illegals.

The ICE folks have a damn clear directive. One, that by the way, isn’t necessarily only from The President so much as from the people who voted him into office.

The brilliant Mayor Bass went on to say she was worried about the Feds drawing a crowd. A crowd of what? Anti-ICE protestors? Seems to me if violence were to ensue having it confined to MacArthur Park would be better than having yet more riots in the streets of Los Angeles. 

This batshit crazy, ineffective Mayor was “Horrified” that the Feds were heavily armed. Really? With all the violence various politicians have been encouraging toward them, they better be fucking heavily armed.

Given that a lot of the illegals ICE is hunting down are affiliated with gangs and cartels, who are among the most violent criminals on the planet it should come as no surprise that they’re “loaded for bear”. 

One should also note that thus far, the Feds haven’t resorted to armed combat. If the illegal community is so scared they have an option. They can leave! I suspect that any day now, the cartels will open fire on ICE, and when they do I sincerely hope that battle will be definitively one sided.

I know I’m completely over hearing about folks that have been here 20 years and haven’t filed a shred of paperwork to become US Citizens. How many “Amnesty” programs have they blown off? How many opportunities have these folks had to go through a streamlined process where their illegal crossing put them ahead of the people patiently waiting on legal entry?

I personally have no more pity, no more mercy, and no more patience. I don’t want to have to pick a number for English when I call a business. I shouldn’t have to, this is my country and regardless of us not having an official language, we speak English here.

As a citizen, I shouldn’t be forced to speak Spanish. I shouldn’t have to have a translation program running on my computer or phone just to interact in my daily life.

My legal Mexican neighbors speak flawless English. One of my favorite doctors spoke perfect English, he was born in Mexico. My Brother in law, and his family speak perfect English. (His parents have a bit of a thick accent but they speak English, which is much better than my Spanish. Although they smile & sometimes laugh at my attempts, his Mom always politely corrects my mispronunciations.)

The difference? They all wanted to be here, they all wanted to assimilate, they all are proud to be Americans, and none of them are criminals. Oh, and they’ll drop a dime faster than I do, on anyone that’s breaking the law especially illegals or cartel members.

All these folks celebrate the Fourth of July and many of them took a very dim view of cities cancelling Fourth of July celebrations because illegals are being deported. Several commented that this was yet one more thing that the illegals fucked up for everyone else.

So perhaps Mayor “Tone Deaf” should stop pandering, and get with the program. Mayor Bass needs to get the Palisades construction moving. She needs to turn the LAPD loose to clean up the streets, and if a few eggs get broken in the process, so be it.

And now Mayor Bass is suing the Trump administration over the ICE raids. She announced on Wednesday, LA is joining in a private class action lawsuit. What exactly does that mean?

LA and California are already in financial troubles and she’s going to spend yet more of a limited resource to pursue litigation that will probably not go anywhere. But it will line the pockets of various attorneys. You don’t suppose that Mayor Bass has any connection to those attorneys do you?

I mean it’s likely that she’s not going to be re-elected. She shouldn’t have been elected in the first place in my opinion. But, if she’s not going to be re-elected, how ever will she continue to be wealthy?

Were I in her position, a private class action lawsuit might be a great way to siphon money out of the city budget and through kickbacks from the various law firms line my own pockets.

Los Angeles County officials are offering aid to illegal aliens too. Why?

If you ask yourself, “what has Karen Bass actually done to benefit Los Angeles?” What answer do you come up with?

Recently, there were several human interest reports about a 114 year old restaurant closing. This place is a landmark and the home of the “French Dip”. This story follows many others detailing landmark businesses closing after decades of notoriety.

The reporters expressed sadness at the place closing, but few asked why. Was it the crime, the homeless people, the foul stench of LA Streets, junkies shooting up in business doorways? Or was it that people are leaving LA, or not visiting because on some level they’ve come to realize the city is going down. Just like San Francisco.

I’ve seen this show before. San Bernardino California, and other parts of the Inland Empire have slowly degraded. Businesses closing, malls, etc. are simply gone one day.

At first you don’t notice it. Just a few empty storefronts and you think “I wonder what’s going to replace ‘X’. Then nothing replaces the missing business. A few more stores or restaurants close, then pretty soon entire blocks of buildings are dark. Graffiti starts creeping like a fungus across the boarded up windows. Pretty soon there are squatters who’ve broken through the boards and the glass. Then more homeless people.

Walking past the structures you see humans reverting to something more primitive. The strung out junkie with her legs open on a filthy mattress hoping the man using her has a fix. Sellers of scrap & stolen goods operating openly on the street. Drug deals, and prostitution on all the corners of the “Dead Zone” and traffic wizzing through the area praying that they don’t catch any red lights. After a while the police don’t even bother. Most of the crime is criminal on criminal and their only job at that point is to load bodies into the coroner’s van and pick up shell casings.

There will never be any witnesses coming forward so it doesn’t matter if they get there in 5 minuets or 5 hours. Whatever happens is going to result in no leads, no arrests, and no prosecution.

I saw it up close and personal in San Bernardino. The nation is being treated to the “LA Show” Where they get to watch a great city destroy itself though nothing more than poor policies and terrible management.

Take note, Gavin Newsom has presided over a lot of the most recent failures in California. Do you really want Newsom as President?

I just watched Mayor Bass’s press conference

Frankly I’m confused.

On the one hand she kept stressing that if people do something illegal, they’ll be arrested. Okay…

In the same breath she’s telling ICE to stop arresting people. Which is it lady?

ICE is arresting people who supposedly are here illegally. So I really don’t understand. 

Today, there are scattered reports of Marines from 29 Palms being sent to Los Angeles. I have questions about this too.

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prevents the use of military personnel in domestic law enforcement unless authorized by law. I don’t know who makes that authorization, I presume Congress. So I’m concerned on two fronts:

1) Has Trump violated his boundaries as defined by Congressional oversight? 2) If the Marines are being deployed I’m concerned that Marines will be standing around with big assed targets on their backs.

Mayor Bass was trying to pull heart strings taking about how fearful the immigrants are in Los Angeles. Duh! If you’re here illegally, whether it’s a day or a decade you have broken the law.

You should be afraid, if you’re smart, you should be planning to pack up your shit, and go home. If you’re self deporting heading for Tijuana I doubt seriously ICE is going to stop you.

Mayor Bass said, “Stop the raids, they’re causing fear and chaos in our city.”

So what the fuck does she propose? Obviously the raids will be ongoing. She’s asking for the US to continue to accept illegal immigrants. They’re blaming Trump. In my opinion they should be blaming Biden.

If you think about it, had Biden not thrown the borders wide open, then everything would have continued on status quo. But Biden’s actions pissed off a rather large swath of the American populace and this is the inevitable backlash.

As my mother used to say, “All it takes is a few bad apples and everyone loses the ability to do something.”

In this case, there were too many illegal crossings, most of them barely vetted, and then they disappeared into the interior of the country with the help of federally funded relocation via buses, planes, trains, and automobiles.

Hell, the illegals were allowed to get onto planes with virtually zero documentation while American Citizens were almost being strip searched to get on a plane.

While our elders, were squeaking by on an average of $1500 a month, the illegals were having housing provided, getting stipends of 3 or 4 thousand dollars per month, getting free medical care, and getting free phone service.

Surely someone in the Biden administration, at some point had to think, “Maybe this isn’t a good idea.”

Granted, It had probably been going on for years, but with so many people surging the border the fact that illegals were being treated better than Americans who’d worked their whole lives paying into a system that congress has raided innumerable times and who effectively betrayed them, couldn’t be hidden anymore.

Of course there was going to be a backlash, well this is it.

As I watched Mayor Bass’s conference, I couldn’t help thinking that this was a Mayor who was clueless and flailing. Newsom is no better.

Why I’ve really started hating people. Let me count the ways!

Ok, social media is definitely not for me.

Picture it as a broken sewer main of shitty people with a very occasional super nice person.

LinkedIn – For fucks sake has turned into Facebook with a pseudo business bent. I’ve been on LinkedIn since 2019, when much to my dismay I was told I needed to have it so that HR people could reach out to me, as our company was laying us all off.

Since then it’s been completely useless as a vehicle for finding a job and NO, I repeat, NO HR person has reached out to me. For a while it looked like they were turning it into a dating, pro-Palestine, DEI, & god knows what else kind of site.  None of which I’m interested in.

X/Twitter – OMG! Talk about a broken sewer pipe! Perhaps it’s that I’m easily bored. But damn! My most recent mistake on that site is that I commented on someone I didn’t realize was a flat Earther about being unsurprised that satellites wouldn’t show up in photos of astronauts working outside the ISS. 

Satellites are relatively small, tend not to have running lights and most likely wouldn’t be seen unless they happened to reflect sunlight.

I went on to say I always missed seeing stars in the NASA photos and it bugged me. I once asked NASA why that was. They told me that often photos of planets would have the backgrounds blacked out to enhance the photo of the planet or object that was the actual subject of the photo.

Okay, that makes sense.

Then what happened was hundreds of people describing the way cameras work and this, that, and the other thing, including that space wasn’t real, we didn’t have people orbiting the earth, it was all fake etc. In the miasma of following shitposting, one post caught my attention. 

This post was from the son of an actual astronaut and very nicely explained that the ISS when on the daylight side of Earth had the same problem as we do. The stars are simply too dim versus the brightness of the sun to see. Then he included some breathtakingly beautiful photos his Dad had taken from the ISS while on the dark side of Earth. When I say breathtaking I mean it. Seeing those photos brought tears to my eyes because of their beauty.

I thanked him for the concise explanation, (even though I felt like, “Duhhhh,” I should have figured that out myself,) and for sharing the beautiful photos has Dad took. We had a pleasant exchange and he directed me to his Father’s account, the NASA website, and a Flickr account that I’d never heard of, where the astronauts posted more personal pictures they’d taken.

Basically it was a super nice adult exchange and I genuinely appreciated the information. I told him so, and thanked he & his Father for sharing. Then, thinking that was the end of it I went to bed.

This morning, my X account was still blowing up. People were still reiterating what had already been discussed and piling on. Then more people, the flat earth folks were denying that the photos were real and just going on & on about that.

I don’t like controversy and really don’t like people piling on without reading the whole thread. Generally, I read all of a thread before opening my mouth and adding my 2 cents. Yes, sometimes I screw up and add something redundant to a thread but I really try to avoid doing that, as it’s a waste of my time and everyone else’s time who may be in the comment thread.

However, in this case, (which is only the most recent in a long line of similar events,) I found myself being very depressed by it all.

Reevaluating my interactions on X I came to the realization that the vast majority of people on the site are… well, terrible people.

I partially remembered a line from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy where Marvin the robot had just witnessed another robot destroy itself in a fit of anger and said, something like, “What a depressingly stupid robot.”

That sentiment is what I felt this morning. These people couldn’t just go, “Oh, that’s a lovely respectful conversation. Wow, those photos are really beautiful.” Instead, they had to drag it through absolute shit. 

I have a very hard time seeing the good in people. Jerry would often remind me that not all people in the world are shitheads. Since he’s been gone, I’m having a harder time remembering there are some good people.

Between the network news, X, LinkedIn, and just dealing with people in the grocery store it’s easy to have the “shitty people” belief reenforced.

It’s not just this one instance. However, this one seems to have broken the camels back. 

Going through the list of things I can’t stand hearing about anymore, I’ve concluded that too much interaction with the world is very depressing.

I don’t care about Palestine, or Trans rights, the LGBT community, or the Democrats, politics, Republicans, Trump, the failure that is Congress, our broken Judiciary, the price of eggs, people demanding that Trump voters regret their vote, who’s talking about running for President in 2028, the welfare state, DOGE, government employees being laid off, taxes, the next iPhone, Ukraine, or much of anything else.

I realized, I miss looking up at the stars, (which I can’t see anymore because everyone around me is afraid of the dark). I miss simplicity, and beauty. Both of which are easily seen and appreciated, if you turn off the constant bullshit.

That’s what I’m going to do. Turn off the constant bullshit. I want peace & quiet. 

I want a little job that brings in enough money but not 100K. I want to be off mailing lists and urgent notifications, and to turn off the firehose of “Information”.

To that end, I’m closing accounts. I’m removing myself from mailing lists and locking down the flow of senseless conflict and controversy. This mechanized abomination we call “modern life” has made me unhappy.

I’m not angry about it, (although It’s going to be a while before I’m not assuming people are all shitty).

I’m looking at this as a mistake and fortunately it’s one I can correct.

I’m trying a hiatus. I’ll let you know how it goes… or not.

Don’t know what’s going on in the UK, But it’s got to stop!

Uk police commissioner.png.The Washington Post reports that the UK government is demanding Apple provide them backdoor access to users encrypted iCloud data.

This is nothing particularly new for government. The FBI has been famously turned down by Apple when it came to their demands for decrypting lock codes of alleged criminals iPhones.

What is disturbing is that the UK is making this demand under cover of its “Investigatory Powers Act“. This sneaky, slimy, law makes it a criminal offense for the company under demand to say anything about being under notice, demand, or request.

They do allow an appeal to a secret panel and judge. In other words the appeal process is just for show.

This demand for a back door doesn’t just apply to British citizens, the UK government wants the ability to spy, snoop, violate privacy, of anyone in the world who is using Apple iCloud.

Their justification is, as it always is with totalitarians, that they need this access to insure public safety and they can be trusted not to abuse this ability.

We can bet that they’re making, or have already made similar demands of all other encrypted cloud services. But we will never know if that’s true, and we can never know who complied, because of the double super secret provisions of “Investigatory Powers Act“.

So the continuous assault on Personal Privacy goes on. This is important because in the Apple ecosystem, iCloud is sort of a central piece. It’s so central to Apple device functionality that Apple gives everyone a little iCloud storage space when they buy their first iPhone. At that low level, it’s mostly about iPhone backups and settings.

Most people increase the amount of iCloud storage available because if you have several devices it’s convenient to have access to your all of your data from every device.

I don’t. I could live without iCloud. In fact I could live quite nicely with local storage and not have anything in the cloud. But that’s just me.

A lot of people can’t.

Most people, due to Apple’s marketing of User Privacy being one of Apple’s top concerns, have a reasonable expectation that their data will be encrypted and that no-one including Apple can access that data.

If Apple gives the UK backdoor access. Then privacy is gone. China will next be demanding their own access to user data, then it’ll be Interpol. All the while the US government will be quietly taking data dumps from “Five Eyes” member nations. Using that data to spy on its own citizens but being able to deny that they are. Our intelligence agencies will shrug their shoulders and say they can’t control what information is shared with them in a data dump from other intelligence agencies.

The UK government has become the ultimate representation of a “KAREN” and their surveillance and free speech, or rather, their definition of hate speech, policies are the biggest reasons that I have no desire to visit.

You know what? I’m good with that too. 

Even if Apple were to turn off encryption for all phones operating, or purchased in the UK, it still wouldn’t meet the requirements set forth in the “Investigatory Powers Act”.

I’m fine with the UK, UKing all over their own people. Their people apparently like this stuff.

I draw the line at them potentially expanding their bullshit beyond their little islands. I’m not impressed or interested in helping the UK assuage its feelings of inadequacy by invading my privacy. In fact, to the best of my knowledge I don’t have contact with any UK citizen or business. I believe that is true for at least the past 20 years. So why would they have any remote need to access my encrypted iCloud data?

The iCloud data they want backdoor access to may include heath data (from my watch), location data from all my devices, frequented location data, digital ID, private journal data, financial data, and via my contacts application, all my business associates and / or friends.

Remember, authorities in the UK have repeatedly, and quite boldly, said they’ll come for Americans on American soil if we speak poorly of their muslim invaders, their shitty leaders, or their insane transsexual, transvestites, from Transylvania, on social media.

Like all “KARENS” the UK government seeks totalitarian control over everything and everyone. They want a Utopia. There’s only one catch. 

Utopia requires a mechanistic homogeneity of thought, and pesky humanity is renown for individuals that refuse to comply.

Which leaves totalitarian Utopias only one viable option. Their elites must be content to rule over a graveyard.

I personally think there can be no Utopia without it being a totalitarian state. But I’m nobody of interest.

I’m hoping that since this has been exposed and is appearing in news reports in main stream media that the idiot “KARENS” in the UK will back down. They probably will, for at least 9 months to a year.

When they think the average Joe isn’t paying attention they’ll issue another slimy “technical capability notice” and this time, they’ll make sure they gag anyone who might blow the whistle.

The UK is trying out the George Orwell path right now. They’ll move on to the mass graves anytime, and then finally will have the Utopia they’ve always wanted.

We’ll have to see what Apple does. I think perhaps it’s time to reconsider using any cloud storage media for anything.

Why make it easy for some bored fucker with nothing better to do, issue you tickets or screw your social credit score because you, at one time, 20 years ago said the “N” word, or called a bunch of Iraqis “Sand N****rs”.

I admit I think it would be interesting for the Metropolitan Police of London to show up at someone’s door here in the US to attempt to arrest them for a mean tweet.

I’m honestly not sure if that would result in body bags draped with the British flag, or that we’d find our law enforcement folks are willing to violate the US Constitution, specifically the First Amendment.

Given some of the videos of the Metropolitan Police asking nicely to enter someone’s home to arrest them of a violation of their morality and speech codes, and the potential arrestee hanging out the window saying “No! Bugger off, you gits!”

I think the Metropolitan Police would be quite shocked at the way Americans handle such things. 

British people are way more polite than we are.

Might be worth having some popcorn ready for that show.

He’s been right about a lot, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s right about this.

President Trump.Trump said he’s going to be weeding out illegal immigrants from the Social Security system.

Since then, X has been alive with people telling us very seriously that Illegals can’t get Social Security benefits. Then acting like Trump is dumb or crazy or whatever.

Hmmm. Really? So if one of these folks is using a stolen SSN to work, you think that somehow they’re not going to use that SSN to do other things? Apply for credit cards perhaps? Mortgage loans? Bank Accounts?

Really? Nobody is that naive.

The other half had his identity stolen on a couple of occasions. Once, it was just a couple of debit card numbers, but the other time it was his whole credit history. He wasn’t aware there was a problem until he tried to get a loan for an instrument, then he found out that there was someone else running around using his social security number.

How ever did this bad person get the other half’s SSN? Oh that was due either to a medical insurance company breach, or a doctor’s office closing. We later found out that all the medical records had simply been dumped in the dumpster out behind the office.

It didn’t matter. It cost us a lot of time and money to get everything sorted out. 

If someone has your SSN, name, and date of birth, they could possibly start collecting on Social Security too.

That’s called stealing you know. Not that any of the liberals care about little things like stealing, or crime in general.

Unless it disturbs them.

When drugs come to the rentals in their neighborhoods, or an HOA socialite is mugged for her earrings in a common area.

Then liberals who previously wanted to defund the fascist police, while being kind to the poor immigrants seeking a better life, will hire a mercenary goon squad to patrol and harass everyone walking through a neighborhood.

We know that a lot of those liberals manage to look the other way, & pay under the table dirt cheap wages to illegals too. Liberals don’t seem to understand that paying someone 10 cents an hour is essentially slavery. Say that out loud to a liberal and they’ll lose their shit.

I’ve long been annoyed that everything is tied to a SSN. Credit applications, Tax filing, Mortgages, Car Loans, Medical records, Insurance, and God knows what else. 

It wasn’t supposed to be that way.

Back at the dawn of time when I got my SS card, the accompanying paperwork said specifically that this number wasn’t to be used as ID.

Yet that’s exactly what it’s been used for. Lots of people forget that SSN is an account number, to your forced contributions to a retirement savings account, that doesn’t pay a particularly good interest rate.

At this point we might as well use the number as our phone number, drivers license, and car plate number. Everyone knows our account numbers.

I’d bet we’ve all received at least 10 notices of security breaches where our name, address, SSN, and phone number has been dumped out on the internet for sale.

I’ve been informed that my personal data was leaked by the Office of Personnel Management of the United States government. You know what they said? Too bad, so sad, perhaps you should invest in a credit counseling service.

At least corporations provided credit monitoring services for a few years!

Given all of this.

Is it that far a stretch to entertain that some number of illegal immigrants might be getting social security payments they’re not entitled to?

Illegal Immigrants, as Tom Homan said, are all criminals. He’s right, and I fell out of my chair when he said it directly to someone questioning him about deportations.

Until I heard him say it, I thought I was some kind of idiot that just didn’t understand the issue.

The moment a person crosses our border without permission, or overstays their Visa, they are, by definition, a criminal because they committed a criminal act. If they’re willing to start out committing a crime, what’s to stop them from stealing someone’s identity?

Liberals would justify even that, as okay (as long as it wasn’t their identity,) because the poor illegal is just trying to work and feed their family and they needed a SSN to work. Or retire.

Here’s something few people ever find out.

If you claim unemployment benefits, or assistance for medical costs, or disability payments, all of which are tired to your SSN. The state sends you a 1099 form. 

YES! Boys and Girls, you have to pay Federal taxes on that “Income” If you’re in a state with income tax, you get to pay them too.

So some illegal running around with your SSN can do a whole lot of damage, before they even begin to fuck you out of your tiny assed social security check.

All of this is to say, it’s very possible that some 87 year old grannie, or someone who’s contacting the Social Security office on Monday morning ready to retire, may find out they’ve got nothing because someone else got there before they did.

Trump saying that he’s ordering it to be looked into is a good thing. Even if they find nothing, at least the American People can have faith in the Social Security Administration. 

If an audit does find fraud, then booting the fraudsters out of the system means people who deserve the funds will likely get them, and perhaps Social Security will last a bit longer.

I question the Democrats screaming about Doge looking into Social Security.

We know over the years, both the Democrats and Republicans have raided SS funds. We the People assume that the money has been paid back. What if it hasn’t? Worse yet, would be finding that money is still being siphoned off for stupid projects like those at USAID.

I’ll tell you what. If all the retirees eating tuna, cutting their medications in half, and paying taxes on their SS income were to find out they’d been spending a billion a year for something like “Condoms for Convents”, or half a billion on “Feed a Jihadi for Jesus”…

The old folks (myself included) would tear down the Capitol and smash every stone to dust with their walkers & canes.

I envision exchanges like this between the Capitol police and the old folks;

“Yeah sonny, that’s a pretty badge, so what? I’m on my last legs here, I’ll be dead in 6 months from cancer. I can’t feel anything on my left side… This here is a kamikaze run for me! Tear gas? That’s all ya got? I’ve been smoking Lucky’s for 65 years! I could huff that canister & chase it with straight bourbon! So bring it, ya pussy!”
