Winter is here

First snow of the season.

I broke down and built a fire yesterday afternoon. Cozy, but there was purpose. I was checking out the fireplace before I really needed it.

At least once every Winter we lose power. Since the house has central Air / Heat when we lose power this place gets just a bit chilly.

A couple of years ago I built a fine in the fire place and had as much smoke in the house as outside the house. 

So this Winter I figured I’d find out what the problem was before it was critical.

Guess what? The fireplace worked like a champ. I have no clue why but it follows with my luck. When I need it later this year I’m sure I’ll have a smoky mess.

Now I’m off to go have some fun. I’m heading to a meeting. I need to interact with other people I’ve been spending way too much time alone or just in the company of the dogs.

On the up side I speak dog really well now. The down side is that I try to greet people by smelling their butt! Definitely time to hang out with some other primates.

I’m astounded at the venom

I’ve been skimming Twitter.

I am astounded by the nastiness and venomous gloating coming from the gay community. Over the election results.

I thought these people were the “Educated, Liberal segment of our society”. I thought they were the folks who purported themselves to be better than the zealous, mean, rich, conservative religious right.

I expected them to take the high road and “Win” with grace and good sportsmanship.

Apparently, I was completely WRONG!

Yet another reason that so many Bi & Non mainstream Gay men refuse to associate with the Gay community.

It’s not that these men are ashamed of their sexuality… it’s that they’re embarrassed  by the mainstream “GAY” people who so clearly don’t represent them.

4 More years…

You know, it wasn’t the presidential election that mattered.

Since the makeup of congress didn’t change it wouldn’t have mattered if Romney won.

Had Romney won, the democrats in Congress would have stonewalled anything he tried to do, just as surely as the Republicans have done, and will do to President Obama for the next 4 years.

The President isn’t really the issue.

Party

What is at issue, is that we have a government that is no longer concerned with doing the best for the majority of the people. Things are far too partisan and focused too narrowly on special interests.

I personally think that a 50/50 split between candidates, or propositions is a really BAD sign.

What that says is that neither choice has significant merit and it means that essentially the political process is in neutral.

I remember hearing as a child that you wanted to make sure that you married someone who was not only the same religion as you were, but they should also be the same political party. 

The logic was that if your spouse was a Republican and you were a Democrat, you cancelled out each others votes.

This most recent election is exactly that. 

The future is ours to control, It’ time to re-evaluate the obstructionist behavior in congress. If necessary, we need to recall & replace those individuals that put the agenda of their parties, and lobbyists ahead of the needs of the American people.

We desperately need a government that works for US!

Did you vote?

Nope i”m not going to talk about the election… I think far too much has been said.

Hopefully whoever wins… it will be a clean win so we don’t have to listen to the wailing and gnashing of teeth during endless recounts. I’m not holding my breath though.

Not only did I vote, but I walked to the polling place…

Perhaps I was overly ambitious due to the fact that I’m still getting over a cold and I think I’ve developed a slight sinus infection.

However…  as  treat to myself I decided to have lunch at The Grizzly, so here I am.

I got  to the poling place, and was sweating like  pig! Hopefully I was sweating this bug out of my system.

After all increased blood flow, should help flush all the nasties, and get some white cells to the infected areas… That’s the theory anyway…

On the other hand if this doesn’t get better in the next few days I’m going to put a call into the medical establishment, and get some drugs.

I’ve been tinkering with the idea to take a trip that I’d use to get my advanced open water diving certification. Then see family… of course if I’m sick, the diving thing is right out…

I’m home now… 

Looking on the map I was definitely a little ambitious!

It’s 2 miles down, and 2 miles back.

Going downhill was no problem. Coming back uphill was tough…

I used to walk this every day, then I got out of the habit.

My starting point is 6200 FT by the time you get to The Grizzly the altitude is about 5300FT.

You don’t really think about it until you have to walk back up, then that 1000 feet feels like it’s 10,000.

I can say from experience that if you walk that 4 mile loop every day you’ll very soon have great calves, tight legs, and a butt that is anything but flabby.

I’m going to have time on my hands… I should start walking it again every day. After all if I have to start selling my body for income… I should at least look decent!
