As I age…

As I age I notice an accumulation of stupidity and everyone else either ignores it, or flat out doesn’t see it.

I wish I could ignore things and remain blissfully ignorant. 

Some examples:

Tail lights. I’ve recently seen at least two different cars, with all three tail lights flashing at different intervals from each other. There are warnings in movies about flashing light sequences affecting photosensitive individuals. In a movie the person is sitting in a chair. On the road, a photosensitive person might be in the driver’s seat of 2 thousand pounds of vehicle and can do considerably more damage if they react poorly or have a seizure.

The Washington Post Censored the Cartoon at right, even though it is a perfect description of truth. WP didn’t want to offend? How does truth offend? WTF?

We literally censored people from the internet who spread “mis-information” about elections, COVID, Vaccines, etc. When Rashida Tlaib spreads mis-information on the steps of the Capital using her position in Congress to magnify her importance and therefore her voice, nobody says shit about it, until the House passes a vote to Censure her. What is said after the Censure vote is in condemnation of the Censure.  That for me is a complete WTF moment. Personally, I think Tlaib should be taken from the capital in chains and tried for Treason. Oh, for the college educated… Censure is very different from Censor. You idiots might want to open a dictionary.

Evidence suggests Joe Biden has apparently lied about his involvement with Hunter’s businesses, and the “Biden Family Business” to the tune of millions of dollars, at minimum it looks like influence pedaling. Nothing much is said or done about it. Donald Trump inflates the values of his properties a tad, gets loans from banks, pays off those loans, making everyone money and harming no-one. Yet he’s in court on fraud charges?

Warner Brothers has decided not to release a completed movie as a tax write off. Let me get this straight, if I build a house and never move into it. I just lock the doors, and never use it, rent it, or sell it. I can write off the entirety of the house on my taxes? How about nobody gets tax write-offs on completed projects until the project actually loses money. That seems a lot more logical doesn’t it? Oh and shouldn’t Warner Brothers executive be sitting in court alongside Trump for fraud? It’s a cinch that they borrowed money to produce that movie. 

The entirety of the UAW strike and its resolution. WTF? I understand wanting higher wages and benefits. But you do realize that a nicely equipped FORD costs almost as much as a top of the line BMW luxury car. A GMC Truck costs more than some models of fully equipped BMW SUVs. So tell me again UAW how you’re going to preserve your jobs building your current line, or when everyone transitions to electric vehicles with fewer parts and higher purchase prices. If I have a choice, I’m going to pick the cheaper vehicle with longer range. Toyota? Kia? Nissan, hello paging common sense, is common sense in the building? There’s no incentive to buy FORD, CHEVY, GMC or Tesla at the prices they’re currently charging. Even if you wanted to buy one of these brands, you can’t order the vehicle exactly to your specification. Go on, try to build one on their websites. You’ll find you can’t have certain engine / trim combinations. For example I found I couldn’t have a truck with nice seats, no chrome,  a V-6 engine, 4×4 transmission in a 2 door with 6 foot bed configuration. They make what I want with a 4 cylinder 2×4 transmission but swap in a V-6 4×4 and NO! You get 4 doors and a 4.5 foot bed. Sorry, that just doesn’t work, I want to carry a full sheet of drywall flat in the bed of a pickup, and be able to drive uphill. This is especially true when the prices are at $40 – $60,000 before options.

Loyalty Reward programs. This is a bit hypocritical of me because I use these programs. Not using them in protest which I should be doing, is punishing myself, not the companies. Why do we need these Loyalty cards? Why not simply sell the goods or services at the discounted a.k.a “REAL” price to everyone all the time regardless of their loyalty? Why is it that on a recent grocery store run I was able to save $45 off the bill, but only had one .50 manufacturers coupon? Is it that the grocery store inflates the price so much they can afford to discount everyone’s bill by 1/4? How about gas stations? Why not give everyone a break on the price and speed up the refueling process along the way, instead of having folks enter loyalty numbers and selecting options of payment and 50 other questions?

Medical Costs. Same generic RX for years. Sometimes it’s $120 other times it’s $90, still other times it’s $50. I’d really like to know, how much does this shit really cost? Perhaps a better question is, “How much on average does it really cost to get medical treatment?” Maybe we should base insurance costs on the average, not how much can we get for removing a splinter in Beverly Hills.  Why can I negotiate 2/3 off on a medical bill? It’s not even negotiation. All I had to do was ask… That suggests that the actual cost of doing business is 1/3 less than advertised.

A better overall question is this;

Why do we put up with these clearly irrational things, and why are these things accepted as “Normal”?

I’m getting damn sick and tired of the White Supremacist Boogie Man!

WIRED Magazine did a piece on something called “Active Clubs” the piece tacitly banged the alarm bell because the clubs are connecting using the Telegram App. Why Telegram you ask? Why is the method of communication important? Because it’s encrypted.

Antifa, BLM and Smash mobs use encrypted apps to coordinate their activities but you don’t see the liberal press making sure that the specific application is known. You also don’t see the kind of scrutiny applied to those groups as you do to something with the slightest whiff of racial pride on the part of White people.

At their heart “Active Clubs” are about activities as near as I can tell. To some extent they’re about physical training and health versus sitting on your ass all the time, watching TV, playing video games, or being a keyboard warrior.

To the right is an active club logo. In looking at this logo, I immediately see there’s a lot I agree with. Weight Training, Boxing/Self Defense, No ANTIFA, No Communism, No Drugs. I don’t know what the Spray can is supposed to mean. But when an organization’s logo communicates the organization is 83% in line with my core beliefs I’m going to want to know more. 

I applaud anything that gets us off our couches.

Especially when sitting on your ass all the time in front of the TV is a great way to get brain washed and indoctrinated  by a news media where the lies start pretty much after the words “Good Evening, I’m your host”.

Let me be categorically clear. I’m not a fan of anti-semitism, Neo nazi groups, or hate groups of any kind. I’ve spent my life trying to avoid being “That Guy!” You know, the White Supremacist everyone is afraid of. God knows where I was raised, I could easily have joined the KKK. But I believe that every human being has something to bring to the table and that we should learn from each other.

That being said, I’ve been taught as some cost that it doesn’t really matter if you’re a White Supremacist or not.

I’ve never had a white person, steal from me, I’ve never had a white person threaten me with a weapon, I’ve never been told to ‘leave a place or be beaten’ by a white person. I’ve never been surrounded and beaten by a “Pack” of white people. I have experienced all of these things at the hands of non-white people.

I’ve never known any white person that did a smash and grab, or looted, or set fire to buildings. I’ve seen this being done by mostly non-white people on TV.

This is not to suggest that White people don’t do these things, it’s a statement of fact that my lived experience suggests I as a white person am far safer and less likely to be a victim of crime or engaged in crime if I’m hanging with White folk.

Except that nowadays it “Feels” a lot like just being a white dude who wants to hang with other white dudes is painted as somehow criminal, or that it’s being a white supremacist. For fuck sake, just wearing a MAGA hat or expressing support for Donald Trump is considered by some to be white supremacist behavior.

Going to church, being pro-life, expressing a dissenting opinion at a school board meeting, not believing or agreeing that there are 147 genders, and being white, can get you painted as a white supremacist. The fucking FBI has issued memos that in effect tell their agents to be suspicious of otherwise law abiding citizens if they express any opinion congruent with older accepted societal values.

Proud Boys can trace it’s origin to Gavin McInnes who suggested as a joke that we needed a group of men who were proud of Western Civilization and that civilization’s values, and who were supposed to hold the line against the erosion of those values.

Proud Boys, as an Idea found traction not as a white supremacist group, but as a Men’s group who celebrated being men. The Proud Boys actually attended protests and rallies in this local area to help make sure no-one got hurt and everyone got to exercise their first amendment rights.

Enrique TarrioI continue to be astounded that some of the media calls The Proud Boys a white supremacist organization when the head of proud boys is Enrique Tarrio. Other media describes The Proud boys this way; the Proud Boys, a far-right neo-fascist organization that promotes and engages in political violence in the United States.

Note the WikiPedia definition says Proud Boys is Neo-fascist. Which plays well with the observed behavior of the Proud Boys in their conflict with and opposition to ANTIFA. This characterization allows ANTIFA to be painted in a positive light and the Proud Boys to be painted negatively.

I disagree with the characterization that Proud Boys are far right, or Neo-fascist. As I’ve written elsewhere in this blog I considered joining Proud Boys. I wanted to join an organization where I could contribute to the local community and where I’d be around other men who abjure the narrative that all Men are inherently evil, testosterone poisoned, misogynistic, rapists, that are responsible for all the bad shit in the world.

Hillary fucking Clinton calls pretty much anyone that doesn’t agree with her views Neo-nazis, Neo-Fascist (yeah those two are probably redundant), or if they’re white, White Supremacists. She recently suggested that anyone who supported Donald Trump might be better off being Deprogrammed. So explain to me again Hillary what Fascist is???

Thus far I’ve not seen one single article investigating how someone becomes involved in one of these groups or how they somehow get roped into the dark path to White Supremacy.

I rather suspect that I already qualify as a White Supremacist by the definition of the FBI. But I got here without actively trying. I actually feel like I haven’t moved in my beliefs, but society’s stated beliefs have moved past me.

I’m old, white, conservative, I don’t believe in more than two genders, I’m Pro-life, anti-ANTIFA, and Anti-BLM. I’m Pro-constitution, specifically the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments. I do happen to be gay, but because of all the other beliefs above, I’m obviously a self hating gay so there’s no get out of jail free card there. And to top it all off, I absolutely despise what the Biden Administration has done to this country. I think Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are both unfit for their duties and should be removed via impeachment as soon as possible.

The FBI should be breaking my door down any moment!

My point is, calling someone a White Supremacist, or a group White Supremacist, is as nonsensical as calling someone that you disagree with, a racist. It’s almost meaningless because everything the left doesn’t like or that appears to be a collection of people who have beliefs in opposition to the left, is…

It’s possible I might join an “Active Group” because I really could use some human contact and if that contact also meant I was getting fitter, or learning a new skill then so much the better. That doesn’t make me any of the descriptors above. 

I know I’ll join one of these groups and along will come the Anti Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center, they label the group White Supremacist and presto just like that I’m a member of an organization akin to the KKK.

In truth, I think White Supremacists are built, they don’t occur naturally.

In my case, I could easily devolve. There’s no reason to fight against being a white supremacist because no matter what, I’m going to be perceived as a white supremacist because I’m white, and conservative.

So if there’s no hope, no redemption, and no choice… I might as well raise a confederate flag and join Patriot Front! 

The sad part is that reading Patriot Front’s manifesto, I can see a lot that fundamentally I agree with. 

Our government is out of control
Our culture and society is being destroyed
Our People (Americans) are actively being divided and turned against one another.
We as a people (Americans) need to regain our pride, get back to work and remember what it is to be Americans standing together, choosing right over wrong.

I’ll have to read their manifesto in depth, I scanned it. I can say as a person that believes in smaller less invasive government, a quick scan of what Patriot Front is about seems interesting.

I find this interesting because there was a time when I’d have looked at organizations like Patriot Front as a bunch of lunatics right from the get go. But now, not so much. I’m starting to wonder if organizations like this are actually canaries in the coal mine.

They’re composed of folks who are just more sensitive to their rights being abridged and more likely to scream bloody murder about it. Maybe these are the people who are just not wired to “Go along to get along”. Does that make them White Supremacists, or White Nationalists? I don’t know.

I do think a bit of American Nationalism would go a long way to getting the country back on track. The worry I have about that is that it’s not a big step from pride in our country to asking people for their papers, and imprisoning anyone who doesn’t have papers.

Given what’s been going on in the past decade or so… I’m not even sure that asking people for their papers is a bad thing.

I caught a snippet of a report about NY demanding money to deal with illegal immigrants.

I gather Kathy Hochul wants several billion dollars to house, feed, and provide healthcare for people who broke our laws getting here, then ended up being sent to sanctuary NY.

Okay, I get it. These people are here now and they’re sucking up tons of resources.

My opinion is, they should have been turned around at the border. At the end of a gun barrel if necessary.

As I was shaking my head thinking about the hypocrisy of NYs Hochul and that winner of a Mayor in NYC. I found myself wondering if ANY of these politicians actually hear themselves?

It wasn’t too long ago that they were criticizing actual border states for requesting federal funds to deal with the border crises.

These politicians called Governors, Mayors, and even ranchers, in Arizona and Texas racists because they were pointing out that their resources were stretched too thin and they couldn’t accommodate or ensure the safety of the flood of people. When Arizona and Texas asked for funds they were insulted and essentially told to, “suck it up” or called fascists for trying to add additional law enforcement to the border.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, suddenly these declared sanctuary cities and states are begging for money and even criticizing the Biden Administration.

Uhhh, hypocrite much?

A lot of the small towns on the border have been bled completely dry trying to keep up with the onslaught of needy people. The quality of life for Americans citizens in those small towns has been sent straight to the shitter. And no-one gave a fuck until NYC had 10 or 15 thousand illegals.

We’ve seen illegals crammed into airport terminals and police stations in Chicago. The illegals are sleeping on the floors and arguably preventing the “Normal” business of airports and police stations from progressing smoothly. Chicago and NYC are big places. Meanwhile, the small town of 800 is effectively wiped off the map when 5000 illegals show up demanding to be fed, housed, clothed, and in need of medical attention.

There should be a lot of outrage at the irrevocable damage done to our border towns. There isn’t! On a national front, but I’m sure that the folks who call these small towns home are hopping mad. The dazzling urbanites never give it a thought because while they’re inconvenienced, their cities are relatively unchanged.

Then you have ranchers trying to keep their herds fed that can’t actually use big chunks of their land to turn the herds into. Why? Because Biden’s Administration keeps cutting their fences so the illegals can more easily enter our country.

Fences often are necessary to keep things in, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Emus… The last thing a rancher needs is half the herd wandering off through a fence the damnable government cut.

If you think about it, in addition to the small towns and ranchers paying regular taxes that are sucked up into servicing the illegals, the rancher gets to pay again and again for every head of cattle lost or injured because the jackasses in Washington DC have no clue what it takes to put meat on their tables.

You’d think that morons like Hochul and Adams and that idiot mayor of Chicago would wake up and realize this immigration mess is not sustainable.

We all know Alejandro Mayorkas will not do a damn thing to stop the invasion. Mayorkas is an absolute moron who would keep piling people into a lifeboat until it sank, then say it wasn’t his fault.

Our “Border czar” Vice President Cacklema Harris is completely useless on all fronts. Hmmm Come to think of it she’s even more useless than Biden was as Vice President during the Obama Administration. That’s saying something!

I know I’ve been “Political” for a while. I’ve been trying to pull back but I caught this snippet while I was tuning around on the HAM radio this morning.

Uh Yeah, Sometimes I’ll listen to a distant country station on the HAM rig. Hey… It’s got a decent antenna and the radio itself has really good ears. That’s the “up” side, the down side is that radio stations sometimes do news segments in the morning.

That’s how I got onto this whole immigration disaster. I was able to tune out of the political crap quickly because I was heading for a morning “Net” where a bunch of local HAM operators check in with each other.

The morning “Net” is a lot more rewarding than listening to the news…

Just because I’m a nice guy…

Doesn’t mean that I want to be drawn into your bullshit.

Especially if you don’t have the balls to directly ask me what you want.

I’m basically a nice guy. I can be an asshole, but to be honest that’s a defensive screen because so many people want to take advantage of any nice people they meet.

Being nice is perceived by some, sadly too many, as inherently weak and easily manipulated. So a lot of nice people cloak themselves in the mantle of being an asshole. If we didn’t, we’d be manipulated into doing shit that we don’t want to do, or indeed didn’t have the time to do for other people all our lives.

I can tell you this from bitter experience, once someone gets their hooks into you and figures out that they can manipulate you they will never stop. They’ll be a fucking parasite until you’ve got nothing left to give them or you actively burn them out of your life.

I have a lot of respect for people who can say “No” without guilt, fear, or remorse.

I have a hard time saying “No” because growing up I was conditioned to please EVERYONE! Instead of breaking that conditioning which was built from the damn cradle onward, I created the asshole cloak. My problem is that sometimes I leave the house without it.

An interesting case in point was Saturday.

I had a very disturbing call with my Mother. The call was beyond disturbing it was very upsetting. (No one can push your buttons like your Mother!) Normally, when I get this kind of upset, I do something physical to dissipate the hurt and anger before it turns in on me and causes further damage.

This is how we came to have a drip irrigation system at our house prior to the place burning. It’s a serious challenge to dig any kind of hole where I live. One day, The Other Half and I had a throw down of an argument. I grabbed my handy trenching tool and proceeded to dig all the trenches necessary to bury the drip lines. When he stepped out onto the deck with a tall glass of ice tea and told me to come and drink something I took it as him apologizing. He wasn’t… He was just worried that I’d work myself to heat stroke. Later he told me he kept thinking, “That dumbass will come in soon, he’s been out there working in that heat for six solid hours with no food and no water.” He only fixed me a glass of iced tea when he realized I was fixated on what I was doing.

From then on, he’d keep an eye on me. He realized that day that I was very stubborn and if I was completely engaged in doing something, I would literally forget basic stuff. This was especially true if I was working off anger, frustration, or sadness. He wasn’t so worried about me in the Winter time but Summer always made him nervous.

Anyhow, I’d had this phone call with my Mother. I pulled on my boots, grabbed my yard tool, and got to cutting and trimming. Trouble was, I ran out of plants to mangle before I ran out of anger. I switched from the chainsaw to the weed whacker and discovered there wasn’t anything tall enough in my yard to trim down.

Then I remembered that my next door neighbor had been out in Palm Springs looking after a sick friend. I marched over to his yard. Surely, there must be something that needs cutting! No Joy! Nothing had grown since the last time I trimmed his place. (I took care of his yard before the weed abatement people could ticket him.)

Now I’m getting frustrated about not being able to vent my frustration!

Hmmm. The new guy… he’s going through a divorce. He’s been spending time with his kids and doesn’t have any of his stuff with him. He’s only living there for 6 months… And he’s gone for the afternoon with his Son.

His rental yard is ripe for the trimming…

So I get to work. My anger and frustration flowing out of me as I focus on trimming the weeds. I’m happy in my own world mowing down thicket after thicket. I’ve moved to the area where he parks and have just about completed it when I hear my name.

FUCK!

It’s the neighbor that lives next to Crazy Pants. The guy who NEVER says what he means. Who never just asks for what he wants, instead it’s always a long drawn out convoluted miasma of words and randomized ideas. I sometimes find dealing with him excruciating. And in my current state… I’m in no fucking mood!

But then, he hits me with a question that makes me concerned that he’s losing his mind just like my Mother. He asks if I’m the property owner of the rental air B&B. He knows that I’m not. When I tell him, “No,” he asks me if I have a key to the place. Uh, “No!”

Suddenly I flash forward to where this conversation is going because this conversation is like 10 other “conversations” before.

He’s going to bitch about the exterior lights being left on and since he sleeps in his living room how these lights bother him and disrupt his sleep. YAWN! NOT MY FUCKING PROBLEM!

But he wants to make it my problem. He wants me to talk to whoever and make them turn out the lights. He seems to expect me to be interested or concerned or frankly give a damn.

In the back of my mind I’m thinking, “Get off your ass, put down the fucking bong, and deal with your own shit.” He’s still droning on and on about how tough it is for him sleep and how put upon these lights are making him feel, no-one understands how difficult… blah, blah, blah.

I’m at the end of the conversation while he’s still droning on. And I’m getting really angry about it. I put my brain in neutral. Why does this guy think I, or anyone else for that matter care? Can he not see that I’m hot and sweaty and his puerile issue with the lights is of zero concern to me, I just want to get back to burning off angry energy which he’s actively refueling.

I cut off the remaining 45 minutes of his bitching and complaining, “You know man, both of the lights shine into my house too. We’ve discussed this before. The folks are renters and probably haven’t figured out what switches do what yet. When it was an Air B&B those renters always left the lights on. Having a permanent renter is better than an Air B&B here.”

He blinked, “Both Lights????”

I pretty much growled, “Uh yeah, the porch light and the deck light both shine into my house. I use this new thing they call a shade.”

The whine of the weed whacker motor drowned out whatever reply he might have made. Then I realized part of what had made me so angry. For all his whingeing and blathering on about his interrupted sleep, not once did he ask me directly to speak to someone on his behalf, he just assumed that because I’m a nice guy he can delegate his shit to me.

Now I’m really pissed off. How about this motherfucker asking himself, or me what’s up? Not once in 30+ years of living here have I gone unbidden into someone else yard to clear weeds. Clearly I’m exhibiting odd behavior.

I popped open the gate to the rest of the rental’s yard.

The weeds in that yard now know the meaning of Vengeful! The weeds on an odd small patch of land at the end of my street also learned the term.

The battery died just as I finished the little patch.

My anger and rage had abated significantly, but embers still remain.

I’m going to be really screwed the next time my Mother calls.

OH LOOK! There she is now.

Maybe I really need that belt sander I’ve been looking at. There’s some painting to be done around here. Perhaps that nice compound mitre saw too.

Sigh, “Hello Mom. No, we spoke yesterday. Yes we did, I’m sorry you don’t remember. No, I’m not lying to you…”

California it’s BAD when a Redneck like me…

…Calls out all the brain dead mouth breathers wandering around your cities and towns.

My GOD! What has happened to people? Trying to shop in the grocery store is an epic exercise in annoyance.

What part of, folks should avoid blocking entire aisles with their fat asses and carts don’t people get?

What part of, aisles should be clear of carts, trolleys, and merchandise stacks is too difficult for employees to understand?

Why do grocery stores in other states have Two, yes TWO whole doors? (Honestly, when I first moved up here, the local Stater Brothers did have two whole doors.)

Sometime in the past few years, they remodeled and lost one set of doors which has made getting into and out of the store far more difficult that it need be. If the remaining doors were simply wider, it would be less of a hassle.

But it’s not just the grocery store. It’s also the drug store.

The drug store used to be in the same plaza as the grocery store, it also had two sets of doors. That was super convenient! Park ONCE, then walk from one to the other to do your business. (Perhaps that would help with the whole fat ass problem today!)

The drug store moved to a free standing building with only one door, on the opposing corner of the street so now you have to make two stops, fight through at least one stop light, make a series of left turns, then navigate around a bunch of fast food places to get into the grocery store parking lot.

The navigational issues are bad enough outside the stores while you’re driving, but the mouth breathers inside the stores keep the navigational frustration going.

The people wandering vacantly around the grocery store, are rude, thoughtless, and behind the wheel of a car, terrifying.

I was thinking about the last time I was in Florida shopping in a Publix. It was actually relaxing. The customers were courteous, the employees helpful, the store was brightly lit, and the aisles wide and unobstructed. The floors were clean and shiny! This particular Publix had one very wide door and because there were no displays around the door, moving into and out of the store was easy.

They even had batteries hanging neatly on the racks in their hardware section.

Imagine that! It was only at that moment, standing in a grocery store 3000 miles from home that I realized batteries hadn’t been hanging on endcaps, or in the hardware section of my grocery store for a very long time. At home I have to ask the cashier to go get them from a storage area at the front of the store.

Getting into and out of the shopping plaza in Florida was easy too. The layout of the driveways lent a kind of logic to navigation. The only hiccup was around a gas station at the far end of the property. I think that might have been due to volume of customers. It was the last gas station before you got on the I-10 heading to Jacksonville.

The last time I was in Kentucky, I went into a Kroger and had essentially the same experience. Wide aisles, clean floors, bright lighting, courteous people, products easily accessible, and well designed driveways / parking.

So why is it that California can’t seem to manage this?

Is it too many drugs or just that people in California are that stupid?

The state did vote for Newsom, they did prevent his recall, they keep Pelosi and Feinstein in office and California went overwhelmingly for Biden…

Perhaps it’s that Californians are that stupid.
