{"id":5761,"date":"2015-03-24T07:50:51","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T14:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bone-in-the-throat.com\/Blog\/?p=5761"},"modified":"2021-08-26T18:28:29","modified_gmt":"2021-08-27T01:28:29","slug":"i-thought-flash-was-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bone-in-the-throat.com\/Blog\/2015\/03\/24\/i-thought-flash-was-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"I thought Flash was dead!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine my surprise when I started getting notifications about my Flash being out of date over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"Flash1.png\" src=\"https:\/\/bone-in-the-throat.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Flash1.png\" alt=\"Flash1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s high time for someone to put a fork in Flash and killed this zombie application.<\/p>\n<p>As I\u2019ve documented I Hate Flash! I\u2019ve hated it for years because it\u2019s one of those applications got shoved down our throats when we all started Visiting Corporate websites. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s like Java, which as a computer language \/ application I hate ALMOST as much as Flash.<\/p>\n<p>For me the hatred came about because this shit was always in my face. There were weeks when no matter what I was trying to do, I had to be interrupted several times a day to upgrade Flash. Sometime there would be two upgrades in the same day!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"NOFLASH.png\" src=\"https:\/\/bone-in-the-throat.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NOFLASH.png\" alt=\"NOFLASH\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" border=\"0\"><\/p>\n<p>Problem was, I didn\u2019t care to see the dancing logo I was trying to locate information on the companies website.<\/p>\n<p>Because\u2026 Wait for it\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>The company in question had downsized their phone support staff!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t have needed their web site if they\u2019d maintained their workforce.<\/p>\n<p>I was sitting here thinking about the Flash issue and decided to try an experiment.<\/p>\n<p>What happens if I uninstall it?<\/p>\n<p>How much of an impact will there be on my daily web usage?<\/p>\n<p>As it turns out, over two days I\u2019ve encountered one site that told me the required Flash Plugin was not found. That\u2019s it! Even my favorite PORN sites are working fine.<\/p>\n<p>This leads me to the conclusion that my world will spin on just fine without Flash installed today, and in all likelihood moving forward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interesting that I\u2019ve found another overpriced Adobe product that I don\u2019t really need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine my surprise when I started getting notifications about my Flash being out of date over the weekend.
