Canada abolished the Death Penalty but they&#8217;re all in for assisted suicide?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I get the concept of assisted suicide. If you\u2019re terminally ill, in pain, bedridden, and there is no hope, pulling the plug may not be the worst option you\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve known a few people in my life who reached that stage and pulled their own plug. That\u2019s a decision I actually respect since they were in control, and didn\u2019t want to drag their loved ones down a tortuous road that only ended in a horrible protracted death.<\/p>\n<p>What has blown my mind is the Canadian Health Care system appears to be all in. Some of the articles I\u2019ve read on the subject have interviews with people who are seeking assisted suicide for matters that are treatable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What appears to be an opinion piece on Canada\u2019s assisted suicide, appears in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectator.co.uk\/article\/canadas-assisted-dying-catastrophe-is-a-warning-to-britain\/\"><strong><em>The Spectator<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Reuters<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0had an article that discusses the ongoing debate in Canada. The article is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/canada-prepares-expand-assisted-death-amid-debate-2022-12-11\/\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s arguable that criminals are mentally ill and therefore could seek assisted suicide. Someone sentenced to life without the possibility of parole might also choose assisted suicide. Which means essentially that Canada could have its cake and eat it too regarding criminals. The court doesn\u2019t impose the death penalty, but the criminal chooses it via the Health Care System.<\/p>\n<p>There have been several articles implying that the Canadian Health Care system, (The model of socialized medicine) has excessive wait times for care. Other articles suggest that homelessness might constitute \u201cexcessive\u201d suffering and may therefore be reasons to access assisted suicide.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m very confused by all this.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I get the concept of assisted suicide.
