Movies on New Years Day…

NewImage

New Years Day I was watching one of my favorite movies, The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

There are some great lines

I’m impatient with stupidity, my people have learned to live without it.

I figured that the movie was appropriate for the day.

The markets were closed the government is a confused mess and at a stand still too.

I’m not as patient as Klaatu. I’d have turned Gort loose, hung a big pair of fuzzy dice from my computer console and called it a day.

But I’m reminded “if you kill ’em they don’t learn nothin…” (Another great line from a movie)

I was thinking about another line from Dr Who.

“Life is just natures way of keeping the meat fresh”

I’d add partially frozen lakes are natures way of preserving the stupid meat and skimming the scum from the gene pool. For nature it’s a twofer.

Which leads me to the point, if a ship landed today we’re not any different than we were in the 1950s. We’d shoot first and ask questions later. Or not depending on the patience or lack thereof on the part of our visitors.

I could see the visitors lifting off immediately and nuking the planet from space… it would be the only way for the aliens to be sure.

Just some of the weird shit that goes through my head from time to time…
